But how exactly is it done?
Bulbous nose correction is a rhinoplasty procedure to remove, and/or relocate a part of nasal cartilage to enhance the shape of the nose. Patients who have wide, large nose tip and nasal bone structure can both benefit from this procedure.
The procedure begins by removing the excessive cartilage on the tip of the nose. Then it is fixed with a thread to narrow the width. After that, a small pole is inserted between the nostrils to heighten the tip. If the width, including the nasal bone is too wide, nasal osteotomy (cutting the bone structure) may be necessary.
Some Patients with bulbous nose have wider nose tip cartilage. In this case, the nose tip cartilage is trimmed, and the gap in the cartilage is closed to be sutured.
Procedure Information:
- Duration of surgery: 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes
- Anesthesia: Topical, or general
- Hospitalization: Discharge on the day of operation
- Stitch Removal: Between 5 to 7 days
- Recovery Period: 5 to 7 days
