MIGO Nose | Short and Upturned Nose

Upturned (piggy) nose, or foreshortened nose is caused by trauma from birth, or as a side effect of a previous rhinoplasty surgery.

What you need to know about the surgery:procedure period: 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minsanesthesia: topical or generalsame day dischargesuture removal after 5 to 7 days of surgeryrecovery period: upto 7 daysSuch shape of nose is corrected by using autologous cartilage from the rib, ears, and the nasal septum.


There are three surgical methods for correcting upturned nose:
- by moving the nose tip cartilage

- by extending the nasal septum using autologous cartilage from the ears or nasal septum

- Heightening the nose bridge while correcting the nose tip


You may consider upturned /foreshortened nose correction if you:have upturned (piggy-like) nosehave naso-labial angle (the angle between the tip of the nose to the tip of the upper lip) is more than 110 degreeshave nostrils that are too revealed from the front.

Short and upturned nose correction procedures at Migo are performed by Dr. Kang Euntaek. Dr. Kang is a board certified plastic surgeon, who has extensive experience in rhinoplasty from having performed more than hundreds of surgeries. He has a published study, titled " Corrective Rhinoplasty for Deviated Nose a new Osteotomy Technique" , and has collaborated on many academic and medical articles.


Dr. Kang is currently an adjunct professor in the department of plastic surgery at Ewha Women's University Medical Center.
