The medical team does have other team members that can administrate the anesthesia but the additional education, training, and experience of a board-certified anesthesiologist is more precious than anything. It also gives the patients tremendous protection, safety and reassure them.
Between all the things that can go wrong in any surgery, anesthesia problems are the most dangerous. You have to know that each patient is different thus the combination and type of anesthesia can be different depending on the person, based on the specific type of procedures being done, age, and overall health.
In the operation room, this is the work of a tandem that happens with the plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist in order to ensure that there are no reactions to the anesthesia and that the patient is stable.
