[Nose:Rhinoplasty] Surgery Method for Mildly Hooked Nose Correction (Nasal Hump Removal)

Hooked nose correction procedures remove the bump by carefully cutting off the protruding bone/cartilage on the bridge of the nose. An implant material will be inserted in addition, if the middle of the forehead appears sunken.

You may consider hooked nose correction if you:

  • Have a nasal bump
  • Are concerned with bumpy nose bridge
  • Have difficulty breathing

Surgery Method for Mildly Hooked Nose Correction

1. Incise through the nostrils to shave off the bump without leaving scars.
2. Cartridge is removed simultaneously to prevent relapse.
3. The nose bridge appears smooth and even after the surgery.

Incisions are made on the inside of the nose, or in between the nostrils. Although cutting the bump off alone can improve the appearance,  some patients get silicone or autoglous cartilage implanted to make the nose look more balanced. Dr. Kang Euntaek (in house surgeon, rhinoplasty) will determine if the patient needs extra implants along with osteotomy (cutting the bones) with 3D-CT imaging system.
