[Breast:Gynecomastia] Surgery Methods for Gynecomastia by Severity

Gynecomastia  is non cancerous overgrowth of breast tissues in men caused by hormonal imbalance. Most cases of gynecomastia disappear in puberty. About 10% of men suffer this symptom, which requires treatment.

The pictures below depict different types of gynecomastia, and the surgical procedures used to correct them.

For non severe gynecomastia - through periareolar Incisions

This type of gynecomastia is caused by over development of the fat tissues. Unlike gynecomastia caused by mammary gland development, no lump will be felt around the areolas. This symptom can be easily corrected by liposuction. In case of co development of mammary gland, and the fat tissues, mammary gland incision is also used.

For severe gynecomastia - through inframammary incisions

Gynecomastia caused by mammary gland development can be detected by the lump felt on the areola. This type of gynecomastia is treated by cutting the mammary glands.
