"Ptosis [toe-sis]" means drooping or falling of the upper, or lower eyelid, which causes the eyelids to cover the pupils. This condition gives the eyes the appearance of sleepiness, and makes the patient to excessively strain the muscles above the eyebrows in order to get better vision, which in turn, leads to premature wrinkling on the forehead area. In most cases, ptosis correction is done by making an incision on the eyelid. The levator muscle (the muscle involved in opening and closing the eyes on the eyelid) is being tied or shortened to strengthen the power of opening the eyes afterwards. However, at Migo, Dr. Ko can determine the severity of ptosis, so that the patient can opt for non-incisional ptosis correction.
The picture below compares the exposure of the pupil before and after a ptosis correction procedure. Before the surgery, most of the upper part of the pupil was covered by the eyelid. After the surgery, a significant amount was exposed, making it easier for the patient to secure the vision.
With ptosis correction procedures at Migo, you can also get creases while lifting up the upper eyelid. There are three types of folds you can choose from which are:
Infold: Creases are hidden under the eyelid.In-outfold: Creases are slightly exposed.Outfold: Creases are completely exposed, making a dramatic difference.
At Migo, we will help you choosing the best type of fold for you considering the shape of the eyes, face, and the thickness of the eyelid.
Ptosis correction procedures at Migo are performed
by Dr. Ko Hanwoong. Dr. Ko will consult the patient one by one, and determine
the shape and design that will complement and enhance the rest of the face, as
well as the best suited surgical method for each individual patient. He is a
board certified surgeon with +10 years of experience in performing plastic
surgeries. He has published four studies, and is a clinical professor at Korea
