There are many different types of small eyes. For horizontally short eyes, epicanthoplasty can be significantly beneficial. Performing double eyelid surgery alone on horizontally short eyes are likely to result in eyes that do not belong to the rest of the face. Sometimes patients with severe epicanthal fold covering who had double eyelid surgery without epicanthoplasty returns to clinic to get revisional surgery.
You may consider getting an epicanthoplasty procedure if you:
- have eyes that appear dull due to epicanthal (Mongolian) fold
have eyes with excessively wide space in between
were suggested not to get double eyelid surgery due to the epicanthal fold
didn't see a satisfactory result with previous epicanthoplasty procedure
want to have more defined shape of eyes without visible scarring
