[Breast Augmentation:Mammoplasty] How to Choose the Right Implant Material for Breast Augmentation

Having dealt with so many patients who come to our clinic with concerns and fears of surgery, we understand our patients want their surgery to be the last one they ever have to go through. In most cases, this will be so. However, this is why choosing the right implant material is important so that you are satisfied for years to come.

The implant material for breast augmentation are sorted by the shape and material it is made with.

At Migo, we use two main types of materials, which are cohesive gel bag, and saline solution bag.

Cohesive gel implants are an improved version of liquid silicone implant. This material feels and moves very much like natural breasts. It can be safely removed in case of rupture, or breakage.

Saline water implants are made with silicone exterior filled with sterile salt water. It is bio compatible and safe, but the texture and shape won't be as realistic as cohesive gel implants.

When it comes to shape, you can choose between round and teardrop shaped implants. Round shape implants come in both "smooth" and "textured" exteriors, but teardrop implants only come in "textured" exterior. It is best to choose the one that is most compatible to you, considering  the body condition.

You can also choose the texture of the implants. In terms of textures, the implants can be categorized as"smooth" and "textured" types.

Motiva is a brand name for cohesive-gel implant with embedded RFID chips for easy tracking of the status of the material. It combines the advantages of textured and smooth type exterior implant while maintaining the most natural looking shape of breast for each patient.

At Migo, we allow the patients to have a look, touch, and feel the implant materials themselves, so that the patients can have a choice. Our surgeon will work with the patient to help them choose the best material for each patient.
