[Facial Contouring] Post Operative Care Tips for Facial Contouring Procedures

To help prospective patients who want to get facial contouring, we decided to share a list of things patients need to follow before, and on the day of surgery. Following are the instructions we give to our patients who came to our clinic for facial contouring procedures. Adhering to the advice given will ensure the operated area to heal correctly, and promote and speed up the process at the same time.

<After the Surgery>

  • You can only drink liquids for up to 4 days after the surgery (soups, broths, milk). This is to prevent infections that can be caused by food articles stuck in the operated area.  You can chew soft food from the 5th day. Hard and chewy food can be eaten one month after the surgery.

  • Use mouthwash after eating every time until at least 2 weeks after the surgery. This will prevent the proliferation of germs and eliminate bad breath. You can start brushing the teeth using toothbrushes made for babies from 4 days after the surgery.

  • Cold compress frequently for 4 days after the surgery. This will prevent swelling. After 4 days of cold compressing, switch to warm compress. Warm compress is more effective in eliminating swollenness from the 4th day.

  • If you were discharged with bandage wrapped around your face, remove it on your own the next day. In case of being asked to wear compression bandage, wear it for 8 hours each day.

  • You may remove the tape on the cheeks one week later, before visiting the clinic for a check up.

  • The clinic will instruct you how to do facial massage to prevent stiffness around the operated area. This can be done two weeks after the surgery. It will be more effective if you perform this after warm compress.
