[Rhinoplasty] Post Operative Care Tips for Rhinoplasty Procedures

To help prospective patients who want to get mammoplasty, we decided to share a list of things patients need to follow after the surgery. Following are the instructions we give to our patients who came to our clinic for rhinoplasty procedures. Adhering to the advice given will facilitate the healing process, and make things convenient for both the surgeon and the patient.

<After the Surgery>

  • There will be antibacterial gauze fabric pieces inserted inside the nostrils to prevent from infection after the surgery. They need to stay inside for one day. The nurses at the clinic will remove it for you when you visit again the next day. Do not touch them.

  • Cold compress as often as you can during two days after the surgery.

  • Keep the head in higher position than the chest for five days after the surgery. This is to minimize swelling.

  • The adhesive tape on the nose will come off in five days. The nurses in clinic will remove it for you. Do not touch this tape or try to remove it on your own.

  • Avoid drinking and smoking for two months after the surgery.

  • Avoid trauma on the nose area from falling down until the nose is completely settled for two months.

  • Avoid wearing shade or glasses for at least one month.

  • You may feel disoriented or dizzy after the surgery. Have a designated driver, take taxi or public transportation when being discharged from the clinic.
