To help prospective patients who want to get facial contouring, we decided to share a list of things patients need to follow before, and on the day of surgery. Following are the instructions we give to our patients who came to our clinic for facial contouring procedures. Adhering to the advice given will minimize the risk of complication during the surgery, and make the process convenient for both the surgeon and the patient.
<Before the Surgery>
Stop smoking and drinking from 1 week before the surgery.
Communicate with the surgeon if there's any medication you are taking at the moment
Let the surgeon know if there's any allergy, or sensitivity to medication. Also communicate if you are currently suffering from any disease, and/or if you've been hospitalized in the past.
Stop taking aspirin, contraceptives, hormones, traditional Chinese medicine, and vitamin E from two weeks prior to the surgery. Please let the surgeons/clinic know if there are any other medication that are being taken at the moment.
Make sure the date of surgery does not coincide with the first or second day of menstruation.
Take care not to catch cold/flu before the surgery.
<Surgery Day>
Fast from 8 hours before the surgery (including from water, chewing gum and tobacco)
Arrive with a clean face without any makeup.
Bring a broad brimmed hat, and a button down shirt of larger than your normal size to wear when being discharged.
Remove nail polish before arriving at the clinic.
Do not bring any valuables.
