[Nose:Rhinoplasty] Upturned Nose Correction
Upturned (piggy) nose, or foreshortened nose is caused by trauma from birth, or as a side effect of a previous rhinoplasty surgery procedure.
Such shape of nose is corrected by using autologous cartilage from the rib, ears, and the nasal septum.
There are two methods for upturned nose correction:
by extending the nasal septum using autologous cartilage
by rotating the alar cartilage
You may consider upturned /foreshortened nose correction if you:
have upturned (piggy-like) nose
have naso-labial angle (the angle between the tip of the nose to the tip of the upper lip) is more than 110 degrees
have nostrils that are too revealed from the front
What you need to know about the surgery:
procedure period: 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 mins
anesthesia: topical or general
same day discharge
suture removal after 5 to 7 days of surgery
recovery period: upto 7 days
